春秋时代是中华本土法律文明中战争法发展的重要阶段，中国本土的战争正义观也随之渐次确定。春秋时代所产生的战争正义观，在其诞生之初具有该时代的历史特殊性。但由于正义本身是一种形而上的意识形态、评价标准，与其产生时所依附的具体法律制度既有密切关联，又有相对独立性，且具有向一般性共识认知发展的倾向。春秋时代的“义战”规则，有一些至战国时期便不为时人所取，遂有“春秋无义战”之说，但细剖文献便可得知，这不过是孟子正义战争理论视角下的评价，并非春秋时人真正遵行的正义观念。事实上，若破开对孟子一家之见的迷信，则不难发现，在春秋各国交往实践中演进的一系列战争法则，虽然在后世并未得到完整的传承，但其上所产生的战争正义观念，则即便到了新时代却仍持续保持着强大的生命力和兼容性。春秋时代生成或完善的“师出有名”“杀伐有节”“罪人有度”“服而舍之”等战争正义观，对后世中华法律文明传统下的战争规制，影响深远。
