《德伯家的苔丝》是19世纪末20世纪初英国著名诗人、小说家托马斯·哈代的批判现实主义小说中极具代表性的一部文学著作。小说通过讲述纯洁善良的农村姑娘苔丝“被失贞”等一系列悲惨遭遇，控诉了男权主义统治下的英国社会对女性的歧视和摧残，进而引发了读者对于两性关系的反思。本文从两性视角着手，第一部分首先结合哈代所处的时代背景及其个人经历来分析其两性意识，了解哈代两性观对小说人物塑造的作用；第二部分主要通过分析两性意识的差异和不平衡在小说主要人物(以亚雷为代表的完全男权主义者，以及克莱和苔丝这样的两性意识交织碰撞者)身上的体现及作用，探讨苔丝悲剧。

Tess of the D‘Urbervilles is a highly representative work of critical realism novel written by Thomas Hardy. Through telling miseries of a pure nice village girl, the novel accuses the discrimination and abuse of women in male-dominated British society. Then the novel created readers’ self-examination on gender relations. From the perspective of gender relation, the first part of this paper analyzes sexual awareness on the base of Thomas Hardy’s historical background and personal experiences. Then the paper discusses the effect of Thomas Hardy’s sexual awareness on figuring out the characters in the novel. On the second part, the paper mainly discusses the tragedy of Tess through analyzing the role of sexual awareness’s difference and unbalance on the main characters of the novel.
