As one of the most important figures in the American transcendentalist literature movement, Thoreau expounded the concept of simple life in his works, which involves many issues that modern society and individuals need to consider and face. Simple life view is the core of Thoreau's ecological view. He advocates people to simplify their lives, enrich their spiritual wealth, and find a healthy way of life. Based on the comprehensive analysis of Thoreau's ecological literature, this paper discusses the inspiration of his simple life concept to the contemporary people's life style.
