Zhou She is the lead male character in the Yuan dynasty miscellaneous opera Zhao Pan'er Feng Yue Jiu Feng Chen, written by the Yuan dynasty opera writer Guan Hanqing. The rise of Yuan operas could not be separated from the prosperity of Yuan cities and the rapid economic development, as well as the commercialisation and socialisation of artistic performances, while Guan Hanqing's Yuan operas often feature prostitutes as the main characters and Zhou She as the fop who bullies men and women. There is a noticeable change in Zhou She's attitude in the opera, especially in the treatment of his wife Song Yinzhang, with a surprisingly wide gap between the before and after. The essential reason for the change in attitude is related to Zhou She's own character, a manifestation of the exposure of his nature, and in addition to this it also has some relation to the social and family background of the time. As the villain of the opera, Zhou She is the cause of the story and keeps it moving forward, and her lustful and foolish image is a counterpoint to the boldness and intelligence of the protagonist Zhao Pan'er. At the same time, Zhou She represents the second generation of officials and the second generation of the rich, a group of society that is constantly committing crimes, reflecting the low position of women and their sad condition during the Song and Yuan dynasties.
