Hong Kong writer Lau Yee Cheung's novel "Inverse", his crafty, "self-entertaining" novel, is a stream of consciousness experimental tale of an old man Chun Yu-pao and a young girl Ah Hing in Hong Kong, chronicling the alienation and apathy of social relationships in Hong Kong in the 1960s and 1970s. The old man indulged in memories, thinking forward, while the young girl indulged in fantasy, consciousness backward, both mental time and physical space inverted into a desolate urban tragedy.
