As an active female writer since the 1940 s, Zhang Ailing 's women have unique imprints of the times and tragic characteristics. This paper examines the female construction in Zhang Ailing 's works from two aspects : deconstructing male authority and dissecting women themselves. It also sees that Zhang Ailing not only exposes the hardships and oppressions of women 's life, but also reflects and criticizes women themselves, reflecting her keen judgment and human nature as a female writer.
