Since the 18th century, after three industrial revolutions, human society has formed a modern
society based on machinery and network. From this perspective, modern people's death is different from
that of the ancients. The death of the ancients means the separation of man from the natural world, while
the death of today adds two additional meanings: the separation of man from the mechanical world and
the network world. Therefore, modern people undoubtedly face more serious death worries. On the basis
of inheriting philosophers' metaphysical thinking of death in the history of philosophy, contemporary
philosophy should undertake the mission of providing ultimate humane care for mankind.
