王政君，西汉元帝刘奭皇后，成帝刘骜生母。其身居后位61年，并在平帝时临朝称制，共历经西汉王朝四世和王莽新朝。她对权力有着极大的渴望与占有欲，并以高超的权术和政治智慧在西汉后期较为混乱的政局下把持朝政数十年。王政君成就了王氏家族，并与自己的家族相互支持辅助，使得王氏家族在西汉后期能够掌权专政几十年。她把王莽推向了权力的顶峰，而又不自觉地将手中的权力逐渐交给了王莽，导致了中国历史上的第一次外戚禅代。她有着高超的政治手腕，然而却没有足够的政治远见。她忠于汉朝，然而晚年的她却对王莽代汉无可奈何。可以说，王政君是一

Wang Zhengjun, was the empress of Liu Shi, Yuan Emperor of the western Han Dynasty; and the mother of Liu Ao, Cheng Emperor. She had been the queen for sixty-one years, including empress, empress dowager, and grandma-empress. And she held the imperial court and became in charge of the affairs of state during the Ping Emperor era. She underwent four generations of the western Han Dynasty and the New Dynasty of Wang Mang in total.
