After the second World War, attitude towards marriage has experienced major changes in Japan, due to the improvement of economic independence and education of female Japanese. Japanese women focus more on pursuing ideal marriage, instead of the traditional passive and husband-subordinate relationship in their families. The improvement of social status and their self-consciousness of females also produce negative results such as increasing tendency of refusing to get married, dramatic decrease in population of the young, and aging problems. Meanwhile, issues such as high divorce rate, education of children from single families need further study.
