From the Manchurian Incident to the present, when referring to the impression of Japanese in China, Chinese peoples usually think of Japanese as brutal devils or foolish and vulnerable crown-like as shown in the movies of the War of Resistance against Japan. It could be probable that image media including mostly movies has taken an important role in the formation of the kind of impression in China. This paper is a tentative study on the tentative study on the developments, characteristics and rules of Japanese images in Anti-Japanese War Films before the end of Cultural Revolution from the perspectives of the Imagology of Comparative Literature.Specifically, two period were involved to introduce the evil shape of Japanese: one is from the Manchurian Incident to the founding of P.R.China,describing a devil image of Japanese, and another is from the foundation to the end of the Cultural Revolution, describing clown image of Japanese. It holds that,as social imaginations about Japan, Japanese images in Chinese movies reflect the intricate feelings and attitudes of Chinese masses to Japan.
