One Hundred Years of Solitude is a masterpiece of the Columbian writer Márquez. Under the influence of Márquez and his One Hundred Years of Solitude, Mo Yan created Red Sorghum. This paper mainly conducts a comparative interpretation between One Hundred Years of Solitude and Red Sorghum and finds that the two pieces of work share great similarity in artistic idea and technique. As to artistic idea, both of them set up literature space with distinctive ethnic characteristics and explore tragedy theme based on the consideration of reality. As to artistic technique, both of them are characterized by magical realism, use writing techniques of symbolism, grotesque and stream of consciousness comprehensively and create a world fused with magic and reality by means of ghosts and senses. Through the comparative interpretation, the author makes a analysis further and draws a conclusion that based on One Hundred Years of Solitude, in his work Red Sorghum, Mo Yan also makes bold innovation and creates “Mo-Yan style” magical realism with domestic culture and personal experiences.
