民主是增强政党的创新活力、巩固统一的重要保证。民主建设不充分、不活跃将严重影响政党作用和功能的正常发挥。在当今共产主义运动处于低潮的形势下，无产阶级政党的民主建设直接关系到党的执政地位，本文以中国共产党和古巴共产党两个典型为例，通过对其两种不同的民主建设经验的对比，显示了其在与时俱进的党的民主建设过程中，以不同的方式，不断提高党的领导能力，增强了全党、全国人民的凝聚力，从而最终实现以民主建设促进党的建设的目标。
