Du Houwen, born on July 13, 1938 in Leshan, Sichuan, is a professor and supervisor at Economic School of Renmin University of China. Professor Du is the former deputy president of Renmin University of China. His current positions include: Vice Chairman of World Economic Academy of China, director of Chinese Investment Environment Academy, permanent director of China International Trade Academy and academic committee member of World Economic &Political Institute of China Social Science Academy.

Professor Du became a teacher of Renmin University of China after his graduation from the Political & Economic Science Department of CRU in 1960. From 1981 to 1983, Professor Du has been giving lectures in Hamberg University of Germany as a visiting scholor. He served as professor and doctorial candidate supervisor, dean of International Economy Department from 1983 untill his promotion to be the deputy president of Renmin University of China in 1992.
